Twilight is such an amazing series, and of course now that film is out, it’s translated very well onto the silver screen in my opinion! I fell in love with the books earlier this year after a friend recommended them to me. When I finished reading the first book, I gave it to my mother and said (with somewhat starry eyes, I admit) that I was in love. After giving me a look which clearly said she thought I’d gone loopy, she read the novel too, and lo and behold, my mother had no patience for me to finish the second book so she could read it too! I’ve now gotten my mother, her friend, my best friend, and my aunt to read the book. All have fallen in love with it (and with Edward Cullen, naturally)! Twilight seems at first to just be another teen vampire romance, and therefore, it’s not original, but this is far from the case once you begin reading it. The series, in spite of its young adult genre classification, is not confined to generation, as my mother and her older sister both love the books. Its common themes of finding love (Twilight), losing love (New Moon), and choosing love (Eclipse) are experiences that many people can relate to (regardless of the fact that their soulmate may not be a sparkly immortal). The series’ conclusion with Breaking Dawn has a rather dramatic story that at times is both comedic and heartwrenching. I look forward to the rest of the films, and encourage anyone who has not read Twilight to do so! D
